Sailfish Conservation Expedition
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to free dive, snorkel or scuba dive with these majestic animals. In the winter months off the Yucatan Peninsula, an exciting spectacle occurs as sailfish gather in the deep blue water to feed on small fish that congregate into bait balls for safety. On this fast-paced adventure similar to the “Sardine Run" off South Africa, Shark Team One will be tracking elusive sailfish in open water and witnessing this incredible “pack” hunting behavior. We will also be filming this rarely seen event to create worldwide awareness for sailfish and marine ecosystem preservation in this area of Mexico.
The Sailfish Conservation Expedition takes place in Mexico making day trips out from the island of Isla Mujeres.
These are land-based expeditions and we go out every day for sailfish encounters.
Included in the expedition:
- 6 days 5 nights hotel accommodations, based on double occupancy
- 4 days of sailfish encounters with a small group on the boat
- Lunch, snacks and beverages on the boat
- Conservation and safety diving orientation
- In-field conservation project
- Airport transfers and ferry transfers (we fly into Cancun and take the ferry to Isla Mujeres)
- Marine park fees
Come join the team and be part of this unique conservation experience!
Dates:
February 22 - 27, 2026
