Shark Team One Partners with BuyDig.com!
Shark Team One is proud to be using gear provided by BuyDig.com on our upcoming Sailfish Conservation Expedition!
We'll be using the new Olympus Tough TG-Tracker Action Camera for shooting 4K video and data collection for our conservation projects!
Similar to tiger sharks, the Atlantic sailfish population has a high vulnerability to extinction due to mortality by being caught as bycatch in longline fisheries! Photography is an important part of our work since it's an invaluable research tool for conservation, science and outreach!
Did you know that sailfish are one of the fastest fish in the ocean and have been clocked at speeds up to 68 mph?
Sailfish use sequences of complex maneuvers or behaviors with their bills in the role of predation.
We will be photographing this amazing predator and watching the incredible "Sardine Run” of Mesoamerica, as the sailfish chase sardine bait balls and exhibit their amazing pack hunting behavior.
We will be conducting conservation projects and capturing video of this rarely seen event to create worldwide awareness for sailfish and marine ecosystem preservation in this area of Mexico. When we know more about sailfish we can work with policymakers to create marine protected areas or help regulate fishing. Photography data has already led scientists to important sailfish discoveries regarding aggregation information and hunting behavior.
Thanks to our amazing sponsors at BuyDig.com for their support of our work! We need to do everything in our power to stop overfishing, habitat loss and speed up scientific discovery for species like sailfish! With the help of our sponsors we hope to protect these important top predators!
Thank you BuyDig.com! We're thrilled to work with you and appreciate your support of our work! A big FINS UP to your team! We couldn't do it without you!
